Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce I prefer Kikkoman.
  • 1 tablespoon mirin Adds depth; can substitute with white wine.
  • 1 tablespoon sake Adds a lovely kick.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Regular granulated sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil Key for nutty flavor.
For the Dish
  • 500 g beef sirloin, thinly sliced Use what's on sale.
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced thinly Adds crunch.
  • 1 onion, sliced Credit to onions.
  • 2 green onions, chopped for garnish Sprinkles for your meal.
  • optional to taste sesame seeds For a fancy touch.

Method
 

Marinate the Beef
  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and sesame oil. Mix well, then add the beef to marinate.
Prep Your Ingredients
  1. Slice your bell pepper and onion nice and thin.
Heat Your Pan
  1. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a splash of sesame oil.
Cook the Beef
  1. Add the marinated beef to the pan and sear for about 2 minutes on each side.
Add the Vegetables
  1. Once the beef is done, add the bell peppers and onions. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until they are crisp-tender.
Plate and Garnish
  1. Transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
