For the Casserole
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey) Use whatever's on offer to save money.
  • 1 can baked beans Heinz is recommended for nostalgia.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup This ingredient adds creamy texture.
  • 2 cups frozen corn Fresh corn can be substituted if preferred.
  • 2 cups diced potatoes Yukon gold preferred for better flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Extra for topping.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Enhances overall taste.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Adds a hint of warmth.
  • salt and pepper to taste Use good salt for better flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat until cooked through.
  2. Stir in the baked beans, cream of mushroom soup, corn, and seasonings into the skillet.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish and layer the diced potatoes on top.
  4. Sprinkle cheese generously over the top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes, removing the foil at the end for a golden top.

Notes
