Ingredients
  

Onion Preparation
  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced Vidalia onions are recommended for their sweetness.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Key for crispy goodness and tenderness.
Dry Coating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Any basic flour will work; avoid fancy varieties.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Do not skimp on this for flavor.
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika Adjust according to your preference.
  • Salt and black pepper To taste.
  • 2 tbsp oil spray Avocado oil spray is recommended.

Method
 

Soak the Onions
  1. In a bowl, combine your sliced onions with the buttermilk and let them soak for about 30 minutes.
The Dry Coating
  1. In another bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Coat the Onions
  1. Drain the buttermilk from the onions, toss them in the flour mixture, and shake off the excess flour.
Air Fry Time
  1. Arrange the coated onions in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray the tops with oil.
Fry Away!
  1. Set the air fryer for about 10 minutes, shaking halfway through. Check for doneness to avoid burnt bits.
