Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Let it sit out for about an hour.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar A little extra sugar never hurt anyone.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar The darker the brown sugar, the richer the flavor.
  • 1 cup peanut butter Use a preferred brand like 'Skippy'.
  • 1 large egg Make sure it's room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla is best.
Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Trust the process for the right texture.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder This gives your cookies a delightful boost.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Same effect as the baking powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Always add salt for flavor.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional) Optional add-in for extra indulgence.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a big bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and peanut butter until well combined.
  3. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and beat until thoroughly mixed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually stir the dry mix into the wet mixture in thirds to avoid overmixing.
  6. If desired, fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop out tablespoonfuls of dough and shape them into rounded balls, placing them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Gently press a fork into the top of each dough ball to create a crosshatch design.
Baking
  1. Bake cookies for about 10-12 minutes until they’re golden but not overbaked.
  2. Let cookies cool on the sheet for five minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
